Why Flickr Sucks …

The answer is simple, because you can not buy a pro account if you live in Lebanon. Yes Yahoo and Flickr people and management, Lebanon is a living country and we have internet connection and we have browsers, we have digital cameras and we take pictures and we would like to share them with our friends and the world online.

The weird thing is when you take a look at the list of the countries available you can see all the neighboring countries to Lebanon, Cyprus, Syria and Israel, but Lebanon is not on the list.
Another funny fact is that you can find lots of “Embargoed Countries” by the US State department on the list of Flickr such as Burma, Sudan, Iran, North Korea …

But it is ok for me and I can live with Flickr’s ignorance and lack of knowledge about geography, as long as a great service like Smugmug exist.
There are lots of other online services that offer similar services and they accept payments from Lebanon and I always recommend Smumug to my friends, read a previous posting about them here, they are not as big as Flickr and Yahoo in company size and employees number, but definitely they deliver what they promise.
