During my supermarket visits, I mainly go straight to the freezer because this is the category I am mainly interested to check first. Today when i was in the Northern part of Cyprus, and during the usual tour, I was surprised to find the below product in the freezer, frozen dog & cat frozen food.
This is the first time I ever see such a product and not really sure what is inside.

cymt_lidl.gifLidl, the famous German hard-discounter, had a plan entering 2 markets in the Mediterranean sea but so far no stores are up and running.

In Cyprus, Lidl was expected to enter the market in early 2006, with the first store probably opening in Limassol’s busy Omonoia area already dubbed the ‘Bermuda Triangle’ of retailers. Amid rumors that the launch is in limbo because the relevant government services are dragging their feet and not granting final permission.

In Malta, Lidl Malta Ltd was registered in May 2005. Its shareholders are Lidl Italia and Lidl Servizzi Immobiliari, both Italian registered companies belonging to the German grocery giant. It is still unclear where the Lidl supermarkets are to be located and how many the company is planning to have.

After purchasing 50.1% of the shares of Chris Cash and Carry, Carrefour took over the Management of Chris Cash and Carry on August 18th 2005.

As per the takeover agreement, the name Chris Cash and Carry was supposed to remain for a period of four years and the name GROUPE CARREFOUR will be added to its neon signs and letterheads. But today while visiting CCC in Larnaca, I noticed that the name was already changed into 100% Carrefour.

After many years with local supermarkets as lonely players in the retail business in Malta, already 2 stores opened their doors with direct links to 2 of the major retailers in France, Carrefour and Auchan.
But due to the strong relation between Malta and Italy, these links we established with the Italian subsidiaries of Carrefour & Auchan.

virgin_atlantic_logo.jpgVirgin Atlantic is to take advantage of the new “open skies” agreement on transatlantic flights to launch business-only services from London and five mainland European cities to the US.

Speaking in Nairobi, Sir Richard said the new service would aim to offer better quality at lower prices than Eos Airlines and Maxjet, which have both operated business class-only flights between London Stansted and New York since 2005. The new service will offer flat beds.

Virgin is understood to want to buy 15 narrow-bodied jets to operate the new routes. The business class-only services may also use some of the 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner mid-sized wide-bodied aircraft already on order for delivery from 2011.

I arrived this afternoon to Malta, during our landing the weather was cloudy, once the Boeing 777 touched the Valletta airport runway, an unbelievable rain started pouring. They are expecting tomorrow to be much worse than today.
When I arrived to the hotel, I shot this short video with my mobile, it is the street just facing the hotel, water was everywhere!

I will visiting this week 2 islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Cyprus & Malta.

I am not really sure about this Facebook.com gift thing and who is going to pay a stupid 1$ to buy a virtual gift to appear on your facebook profile side bar. I am sure lots of members are doing it and facebook is generating some money out of this.

They introduced a feature that lets you send “gifts” to your friends, like candy hearts and Teddy bears. “Wow, that’s pretty cool” you might say. “I’d like to click a button on Facebook and have some candy automatically mailed to my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day”, you might think but these Facebook gifts are JUST PICTURES! That’s right!! Stupid Pictures!!

After turning down a $1 Billion offer from Yahoo to buy Facebook, I think they are underestimating their audience.
