Refurbished Chrome Logo
Google Chrome is a web browser developed by Google that uses the WebKit layout engine. It was first released as a beta version for Microsoft Windows on 2 September 2008, and the public stable release was on 11 December 2008. The name is derived from the graphical user interface frame, or “chrome”, of web browsers. As of January 2011, Chrome was the third most widely used browser, and passed the 10% worldwide usage share of web browsers, according to Net Applications
Starbucks Siren Going Solo
The Seattle-based coffee giant unveiled a new look for its logo Wednesday 5th of Jan, eliminating the company’s name from around the iconic mermaid that has long graced paper cups and merchandise.
In a message to customers, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said of the logo’s evolution: “Throughout the last four decades, the Siren has been there through it all. And now, we’ve given her a small but meaningful update to ensure that the Starbucks brand continues to embrace our heritage in ways that are true to our core values and that also ensure we remain relevant and poised for future growth.”
Icon Brands
Brands are everywhere. Just look at yourself and count the number of brands you are carrying, from shirt to jeans, from mobile to watch, from deodorant to perfume.
Multinationals spend billions every year to create more brand awareness and improve their brand equity, even that some don’t need this but they keep doing it (best example can be Marlboro).
Some brands become icons and landmarks with their logo or part of their logo, McDonald’s and their yellow arch, Nike and their swoosh, Algida and their heart, and many many more.
